It is obvious that we can no more explain passion to a person who has never experienced it than we can explain light to the blind.
As I sat and watched Zachary’s Select hockey team win the championship game this morning I felt like I was engulfed by passion. There was passion all around me; in the players, the coaches, the parents and the spectators. Watching the fit, talented and dedicated young athletes on both teams skate their hearts out was pure delight. And their passion was so palpable I felt like I could reach out and touch it.
As I watched Zach’s team take the championship I realized that my joy had nothing to do with winning the game. It had to do with witnessing each and every one of those kids engage with their own passion. And, as I bore witness, I was completely and utterly moved.
If I have one wish for my three children it is that they each find and choose to live their own unique expression of passion. I believe that connection to passion is truly what makes the heart sing, the soul dance, and the world go round.
