My brother and sister-in-law are in the Dominican Republic for five days…sans enfants. Their three kids are nine months, two-and-a-half-years and seven. My mom and dad are leading the care-giving-team with Simon, my sister and I as the assistants.
Today was my day. It started at 5:00am with the baby. It ended fourteen hours later with two sick kids, vomiting, pneumonia, fevers, serious mommy-sickness and the MOST neurotic family dog I have ever encountered in my life!
OMG!!!! How do people start having kids at forty five years of age? I am so tired right now I feel like I have been hit by a truck.
Do I regret volunteering for this duty? Absolutely NOT! Just knowing that my beloved baby brother and his wonderful wife are having the time of their lives on a beautiful beach is reward enough!
And, seriously, what a story to regale my nieces and nephew with at all the Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter dinners to come!
‘Oh, Aunt Katie, do you have to tell that story again…?’
You bet I do you adorable little monsters! 🙂
